Digitial Citizenship and Why its so Important.
Digitial Citizenship
Understanding digital citizenship is crucial for success in the digital world. Teaching our students to develop empathy online and ensuring they understand the lasting impact of their online posts will help them succeed in the future.
My Takeaways
- Cyberbullying is something that unfortunately comes with the use of the internet. If we teach our students the importance of being kind to others and not using technology to create hate, we will ensure a better online experience for students.
- Teaching our students not to share private information online. Once you share something online, it's there forever. Students need to understand which pieces of their personal lives are private and should not be shared on the internet. Examples of private information include address, passwords, school, etc.
- Clickbait is used to lure people into clicking on their article or video. Clickbait can sometimes lead to inaccurate news and information, so it's important to teach our students to only trust reliable resources.
- Thinking before you share! This is so important for everyone, not just students. Remember the long-term impacts of every single thing you post. Your digital footprint is real.
